Peter Kersten, right performed close up for Amy Carter, daughter of President Jimmy Carter, at the I.B.M. Convention show in Washington on July 8. She was accompanied by a young friend, Molly Merthan, family friends and Secret Service agents. Unknown to most of the audience of some 1400 people, Amy and her party entered the auditorium at curtain time and
sat in front row seats relinquished by several members of the Board. At intermission, the party went backstage to meet the performers. She and her friend were sworn to secrecy about the magic they saw backstage.
